In the summer of 2021, we launched a new endeavor in Gloucester County: a children's choir for students in rising grades 2-5. All are welcome to apply -- scholarships are available.
Semester Tuition: $50.00
The Ware Church Choral School was founded to provide Gloucester area children with an extra-curricular option for music education, that requires teamwork and fosters strong interpersonal skills. Thanks to a generous donor, fees for the camp and school are significantly below cost.
Participating in the summer program does not require participation in the after-school program during the academic year. In order to be accepted into the Choral School, students will need to audition with the program director, Mrs. Patti Taylor. Taylor holds a Masters of Music Education from Florida State University, and has had a stella career working with children.
As part of the Choral School, students will enjoy a weekly rehearsal on Thursday afternoons. Each rehearsal will include singing sessions and instruction on reading rhythms and melodies: young singers will learn to read music using solfeggio (do, re, mi), learn to listen for blended tone, matching vowels shapes, and express their emotions through song. More importantly, children will gain insight on being a good team member and self-confidence in public performances. Tuition for the academic year semesters includes t-shirt, hoodie, all materials the student needs to be successful chorister.
Patti Taylor will lead the choir’s weekly practices, public performances, and periodic participation at the 10:30 am worship on Sundays at Ware.
