“Inwardly supporting” worship at Ware Church on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am is the Chancel choir, music lovers of all ages from high school through senior citizens. Director of Music Ministries Patti Taylor leads weekly rehearsals prepare music to lead the congregation in the hymns, canticles and anthems to inspire our personal thoughts toward praising God. There’s a space in the chancel choir stalls waiting for you to sing along; there is no audition required.
Plans to launch a choral school for children grades two through five in the fall of 2021 are in full swing and is part of our “outwardly serving” mission at Ware. Young singers will learn to read music using solfeggio (do, re, mi), learn to listen for blended tone, matching vowels shapes, and express their emotions through song. Patti Taylor will lead the choir’s weekly practices, public performances, and monthly participation at the 10:30 am worship on Sundays at Ware. Interested parents and students should request to be on the WCCS mailing list by sending contact information to: Ware Church Choir School. PO Box 616, Gloucester, VA 23071-0616 or music@warechurch.org.
Another “inwardly supporting” mission at Ware is demonstrated by our dedicated group of hand bell ringers led by Molly Hoffman and Virginia Roane. Periodically, weekly practice after the 10:30 am Sunday worship is the time set aside to prepare selections with quartets or the full bell choir participation. People interested joining this group, playing our beautiful, four-octave set of Schulmerick hand bells, should contact the Director of Music Ministries at music@warechurch.org, with name and phone or email so we can make contact.
Patti joined the staff of Ware Church in 2021. She is a creative, dynamic music educator with a breadth of experience. Contact Patti directly to learn more about our music program and public concerts.
